Pennsylvania Senior Graduates With Perfect Attendance Starting In Preschool

A high school senior in Pennsylvania made history when he graduated from Mastery Charter’s Pickett Campus in Philadelphia. Kevin Davis has attended class for 2,340 straight days, starting the streak of perfect attendance when he was in preschool. He is the first student in the history of his school to never miss a day of class.

Davis spoke with Fox29 and explained that he watched his parents go to work when they were sick or in pain and felt that he should emulate their dedication at school.

“I see my parents everyday go to work every day when they don’t feel good or when they’re in pain so I figured why don’t I do the same and go to school.”

His streak was in jeopardy a few times over the years, but he fought through serious injuries and sickness to arrive on time at school every day. He broke his arm in sixth grade and was in the hospital until three in the morning, but still managed to get to school. He didn't let a torn ligament stop him in 11th grade, using a cane to limp into school. And last fall, he dislocated his shoulder playing football but was sitting in homeroom the next day.

Davis' work ethic, dedication, and humble attitude impressed the teachers and staff at the school so they set up a GoFundMe page to help raise $25,000 so he can attend a culinary program in the fall.

“I’m excited and I appreciate everyone that did donate and help me, I appreciate that and their money isn’t gonna be wasted,” he said.

Davis said his late grandmother inspired his love for cooking and he hopes to open a restaurant in her honor one day.
